Faced with the rise of anti-LGBTQI+ hate speech and a regression of LGBTQI+ rights at the international level, it is essential to reaffirm a policy of zero tolerance of LGBTQI+phobic discrimination and violence. CPED also reminds us of the need to maintain and support social and hard science research on LGBTQI+ issuesand gender studies. The production of scientific data makes it possible to objectify trans, queer and other pathways, but also to support and legitimize policies to combat LGBTQI+phobia. Regular actions are needed to raise awareness of the rights of LGBTQI+ people and the specificities of their backgrounds. It's important to remember that more than half of LGBT people have heard LGBTphobic expressions at work in France (IFOP for l'Autre Cercle, 2024).  

Against this backdrop, CPED lists awareness-raising initiatives against LGBTQI+phobias carried out by higher education and research establishments on the occasion of the May 17th. This international day against LGBTQI+phobia aims to raise awareness and prevent all forms of violence against LGBTQI+ people. Every year, more establishments in mainland France and the French overseas territories fight against LGBTQI+phobia and take action to prevent it. various actionsThese include screenings, debates, creative workshops, drag shows and plays. 

At the end of May, a deliverable based on the Symposium "Discriminations et Violences dans l'enseignement supérieur et la recherche : nommer, mesurer, agir. Intersectionality and contributions of LGBTQI+ studies", which will provide institutions with the tools they need to better understand the issues specific to ESR on LGBTQI+phobias.
