« We are still required to defend our own existence when we were recruited precisely to carry out implementation.»

The CPED qualitative part of the REMÈDE 2 survey sheds light on the paradox faced by equality-diversity missions in higher education and research: while Their responsibilities are strengthened and that their perimeter is expanding, Those who wear them must act with responsibility. Very limited resources, Again justify their legitimacy and to compose with Sometimes strong resistance.

The REMÈDE 2 investigation, published on December 16, 2025 by the CPED and the ONDES, provides an overview of equality and diversity policies, illustrating a stark disproportion between the scope of the missions entrusted and the available resources. Through 26 interviews conducted with professionals from 24 institutions, this qualitative component gives voice to those who make these policies live every day. It illustrates the statistical findings with concrete experiences: the versatility of the missions, difficulties in obtaining resources and recognition, challenges encountered, but also the consequences of this commitment on professional and personal life. The testimonies also highlight the importance of the collective and networks for breaking isolation.

Diversity and equality initiatives are gradually being structured and specific expertise is being developed, but the conditions for their implementation do not always follow suit. This report concretely illuminates the realities of their work and reminds us of the need for sustainable resources, professional recognition, and political support commensurate with their responsibilities.
