We announced it in the CPED newsletter in October: at the start of the 2023 academic year, the University of Angers was the first French university to introduce menstrual leave for the student community. A first step, which demonstrates the emerging will of higher education toimprove management of painful periods.

Absenteeism, medical wandering, low self-esteem, stress, taboo... Menstruation, especially when it is painful, can quickly become a serious problem for women. a hindrance to education and careers of menstruating people. How can universities and schools improve their care?

Following the Webinar held on December 18, 2023 to address this topic, CPED is delighted to share the deliverable "Accompagner les règles douloureuses dans les établissements d'ESR".

It contains the legal framework on how to deal with painful periods at work - with a focus on endometriosis, a number of best practices to improve menstrual well-being, presentations of the methods used by universities to supporting students with painful periods the specific study plan at the Université Picardie Jules Verne and the menstrual leave at the University of Angers, but also elements to better understand the taboo surrounding menstruation and respond to skeptics on the subject!
