The current health situation has turned the organization of higher education and research establishments upside down.<\/strong>of which the gender equality missions are essential links. The closure of our establishments led to the cancellation of numerous events around International Women's Rights Day on March 8. Meetings of CPED members, scheduled for April at Universit\u00e9 Paris Nanterre, have also been cancelled. The safety of students and staff is an absolute priority. In these exceptional conditions, the raison d'\u00eatre of the gender equality missions remains more relevant than ever.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In confinement, inequalities have not disappeared - quite the contrary. <\/strong>Marital and domestic violence have exploded. Telecommuting and distance learning are proving far more complicated to manage, and women are paying a heavy price for this reorganization. We're not all on an equal footing when it comes to managing children, domestic chores and loved ones. The media The Lily<\/a><\/em>quoted by Le Monde<\/a><\/em>reports, for example, that among female teacher-researchers, article submissions to scientific journals have fallen drastically, while others note a 50% increase in male submissions<\/strong>. The consequences of this confinement in terms of gender inequality are therefore likely to be long-term, and in particular to have an impact on future recruitment campaigns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this context, the importance of gender equality missions should not be overlooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the<\/strong> the missions have refocused on emergencies, ensuring the continuity of the watch cells against gender-based and sexual violence.<\/strong>\u00a0These include remote hotlines for victims, support platforms linked to health services, publications of national hotlines and contacts of local associations... These devices proposed by the establishments remain operational in a context of social distancing.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this crisis, we need to measure its effects on student success and on the careers of women and men, so that we can compensate for the consequences.<\/strong> of this period. Vigilance on the part of all bodies and establishments will be essential if women are not to see their situation degraded by the Covid-19 crisis. In the meantime,\u00a0the next meetings of CPED members will be held remotely on June 25 and 26, focusing on action plans for professional equality in the civil service.<\/strong>which is due to expire in June 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
